Tips: The storage method of sodium metabisulfite

Due to the hygroscopic and oxidizable properties of sodium metabisulfite, its storage conditions require special attention. When storing sodium metabisulfite, the following points should be ensured:

1) Moisture-proof: Sodium metabisulfite is hygroscopic, so it should be stored in a dry environment. Sealed packaging can effectively prevent moisture absorption.

2) Anti-oxidation: Prolonged contact with air should be avoided as sodium metabisulfite is prone to oxidation and loss of activity in the air. When storing, a sealed container should be used and the amount of air inside the container should be minimized as much as possible.

3) Light-proof storage: Prolonged exposure to light will accelerate the decomposition of sodium metabisulfite. When storing, direct sunlight should be avoided and it is advisable to keep it in a cool place.

4) Temperature control: Sodium metabisulfite decomposes at high temperatures. Therefore, the storage temperature should be maintained at normal or low temperatures, and high-temperature environments should be avoided.

5) Keep away from acidic substances: Acidic substances can react with sodium metabisulfite to release sulfur dioxide gas, so it should be avoided to be stored together with acidic substances.
