Sodium stearate is a white to slightly yellow powder or solid block, produced by neutralizing stearic acid . As a typical metal soap, it exhibits excellent emulsifying, lubricating, and stabilizing properties. It is widely used in cosmetics, plastics, food, and pharmaceuticals. Sodium stearate is insoluble in water but dispersible in hot water and partially soluble in organic solvents (e.g., ethanol, glycerol).
