Industrial Applications:
Water Treatment Agents: Used in boiler water treatment and circulating cooling water treatment to control the deposition of calcium, magnesium and other ions in water, prevent the formation of scale, and also prevent corrosion and the generation of sludge.
Metal Surface Treatment Agents: Enhance the corrosion resistance and wear resistance of metals, extend the service life of metal parts. 
Regenerant for ion exchange resins: It extends the service life of the resins and reduces costs.
Defoamer: It reduces the surface tension of liquids in industrial production and prevents the formation of foam.
Cleaner: It plays a role in removing scale and oil during the cleaning process.

Sodium hexametaphosphate is mainly used in water treatment, as a detergent additive, in the mineral processing industry as a flotation agent, in refractory materials, in ceramics as an important additive, in power stations, locomotives, vehicles, boilers and fertilizer plant cooling water treatment as an efficient soft water agent, as a control or anti-corrosion agent, as a cement hardening promoter, as a streptomycin purifying agent, as a cleaning agent in the fiber industry and the dyeing industry, in the petroleum industry, for rust prevention in drilling pipes and for controlling the viscosity of the mud during oil drilling, and also has certain uses in departments such as fabric printing and dyeing, leather, papermaking, color films, soil analysis, radiochemistry, analytical chemistry, etc. As a refractory agent, it can inhibit the reaction between the iron or iron compounds contained in refractory materials and acidic chemical binders, which causes expansion, making it a very good refractory material additive.
